TV regular dies at 80. In my opinion, he was bang average, far better out there. Still, respect for "one of my own"

I liked him. He wasn't a chef in the truest sense, in that he never trained in it, but he always made food which you wanted to eat rather than looking good on the eye. Like his travels around Italy with the other Italian guy, cannot remember his name, but very enjoyable.
One black mark against his name though ia that he gave Jamie Oliver his start in the business.
