He was absolutely superb in Cutter's Way. One of my favourite movies of all time.
He did such a good job as Cutter, I just can't really see why he never went on to really big things after that. He tended to have parts in stuff I had no interest in, big or bigger roles in films hardly anyone watched or tiny roles in movies everyone watched.
case(s) in point: 1) Beaches. Renowned tear jerker about friendship and death. Never saw it. Although it was highly praised. 2) After Hours. Superb little offbeat comedy about one man's weird night out on the town. Seen it lots. Has a small cult following but generally under the mainstream radar.
Remained active throughout his entire career though so he did something right.
RIP John, if nothing else thanks for Cutter.

'Cutter's Way' is a truly great film. I hope he is remembered for that than being in those silly 'Home Alone' films. RIP
