Very sad for me. I liked Errol a lot. A genuinely nice person. Used to work the doors in Coventry, and ALWAYS had a chat as I was mad keen on boxing and watched him on amateur boxing nights at the Hotel Leofric where I worked, and kept tabs on him he was THAT good. Phenomenal boxer, absolutely impeccable amateur record, TEN title wins, a world record I believe. Never the same fighter after the Mark Kaylor defeat in my opinion. Lost his fortune in the 1987 financial crash, but like a true pro boxer, took it on the chin. Cancer at 53. Really gutted today.

I remember Christie in the 80s and his famous scuffle on the streets with Mark Kaylor- seemed destined for greatness but it dident work out for him despite a great amateur career as mentioned by Ace
