Just heard this. The Batman tv series was a big deal to me when I was in kindergarten. I don't know if I ever saw it during its original run but I remember watching it every week day when it went into syndication. One of the first words I learned write was Batman. Watching it now I can appreciate it on an entirely different level. For the way Batman was portrayed Adam West was an excellent choice. If they had done it like the comic books of the 1960s I think he could have pulled that off as well.
He was considered to replace Sean Connery as Bond due to his high profile from Batman.
Rest In Peace Mr. West

Another star from my childhood gone. Even though I was born in 73, This Batman was still fighting evil throughout the 70s and 80s and kids still love it now.
88 a decent innings, but still sad nonetheless
RIP Adam

Batman will be mentioned in most of the obituaries, but I liked him in Family Guy as the Mayor, Adam West

What I've seen of the news coverage here in the US, has been decent and respectful which is appropriate but isn't always the case when a pop culture icon passes away.

Who's gonna sell overpriced signed photographs to fans at that film and TV convention now! Batman was/is really good. For that reason AW will always be a TV icon.

Batman will be mentioned in most of the obituaries, but I liked him in Family Guy as the Mayor, Adam West Yet to have been watched, I have two other Adam West films in my collection here 'Robinson Crusoe on Mars' (1965) and 'Time Warp' (1981) - the latter turns up on UK channel Talking Pictures TV now and again. I will move them closer to the top of my to-watch pile out of respect.

R.I.P. Adam West.
I originally saw the TV series in its 1976-77 re-run and I was a big fan. I had the toy set (batmobile, batcopter etc).

R.I.P. Adam West. I originally saw the TV series in its 1976-77 re-run and I was a big fan. I had the toy set (batmobile, batcopter etc). That's when my brother watched it as well and he used to pretend to be Batman by wearing a long shirt round his body like a cape. I remember the movie being on BBC1 in the summer of 1984 and then ITV repeating Batman on weekday mornings when TV-AM was off-air in early 1988 due to a strike. When it returned, on popular demand, they continued showing Batman. Adam West could have had a bigger career outside of The Caped Crusader, but he didn't mind at all being famous for it. He even wanted to play the character in the 1989 movie version! RIP Batman.

Sad news - RIP Adam West. I really enjoyed the repeats of the original Batman a few years back on ITV4. I checked his details then & noticed he was into his 80's. As mentioned - a good innings, but very sad news. I thought a Batman or two might be shown in honour to him.

The 60s USA TV shows (Addams Family, Batman etc) made by the major Hollywood studios were generally good
