How terribly sad. He was a blo*dy good defender as I recall. Not the greatest but still very good. 44 years old! RIP.

Incredible, undoubtedly fit as a fiddle as a footballer and dies of a heart attack. RIP

I remember him at Aston Villa in the 90s. He won the League Cup in 1994 and 1996 with them.
RIP

Old fashioned no nonsense defender at Villa. They had a great squad back then. Very sad.

He was a terrific defender and came across as a decent bloke.
44 is no age at all.
Terrible news
RIP

He transferred from Villa to my local club Middlesbrough in 2000. It was a club record-fee at the time, and he stayed until 2007.
RIP Ugo Ehiogu.

I remember him too. It's a tragic irony that he's the 2nd ex-Villa player to pass away after Dalian Atkinson (also RIP). Both great players.
