Brush Strokes, was a 1980's/1990's Sitcom, starring Karl Howman as painter and ladies man Jacko, Gary Waldhorn played Jacko's boss Lionel Bainbridge, Jacko lived with his sister Jean (Nicky Croydon) and brother-in-law Eric (Mike Walling), who was also Jacko's work colleague.
Also appearing in Brush Strokes, were Elizabeth Counsell (Veronica Bainbridge, who was Lionel's wife), Kim Thomson (Lesley Bainbridge, Lionel and Veronica's daughter), Jackie Lye (Sandra, who was Lionel's secretary), Howard Lew Lewis (Elmo Putney, landlord of the local Pub), Carol Harrison (Gloria) and Adam Bareham (Giles), who appeared in series 3, 4 & 5, in series 2, Giles was played by Nicholas Pritchard.
Kim Thomson, played Lesley in series 1, from series 2 onwards, Lesley was played by Erika Hoffman, I have always thought that Kim Thomson, was the best Lesley.
There were five series (40 episodes) of Brush Strokes, shown on BBC1, from 1986-1991.
I can remember enjoying watching Brush Strokes, when the series was first shown, on BBC1.
I wasn't keen on the later episodes of Brush Strokes (series 4 & 5), when Gary Waldhorn's character (Lionel Bainbridge), was no longer appearing in the series (his character died in-between series 3 & 4), I missed Lionel, and I also missed Elmo's Pub, from the later episodes, in series 4 & 5, Elmo ran a Wine Bar, which I thought was a total eyesore (all pink), in series 4 & 5 (after the death of her husband Lionel), Veronica Bainbridge, became Jacko, Eric & Sandra's boss.
The theme song (Because of You) for Brush Strokes, was sung by Dexys Midnight Runners, and reached no 13, in the UK singles charts.
