I believe it was John Lennon that once remarked "IIf you don't like the name Rock 'n Roll you could try Chuck Berry instead." Berry was one of the major influences in Rock music. When I was a little kid my friends and I thought Berry's song "Ding-A-Ling" was hysterically funny and played the record repeatedly. Years later I'd learn how good Chuck Berry's music really was. Rest In Peace.

Chuck Berry - Lord of the 3 chord rock'n'roll classic - very sad to hear this and I'll think you'll find he probably influenced more guitar players than you think. A rock'n'roll legend.
That said, ask anyone today under 30 to name one of his songs and they would probably struggle.
RIP

Very sad. One of my first records was My Ding a Ling which was recorded in Coventry. A true original.
I got even more excited at 1.40

Wrote some of the great rock and roll songs and influenced a whole raft of artists in the 60s.
RIP Chuck.

A Rock 'N' Roll pioneer who influenced countless acts who followed. It's almost impossible to calculate how much he influenced Rock 'N' Roll and the acts who followed him.
RIP Chuck

RIP Chuck Berry. A distinctive performer.
Surprising to think that he was into his 30s by the time he broke through.
