Very sad to hear of his problems in recent years. He had a good body of acting work behind him.
RIP

Very sad to hear that, I always like him as an actor, was he one of the select few who appeared in The Sweeney, Profs and Minder? I am sure he was, but I cannot remember him in The Sweeney. I remember him from the late 80s series Making Out, which I liked a lot, but he appeared in so much stuff and always gave good performances.
I remember the outcry about the webcam when he did Footballers Wives, but why that should curtail a career is beyond me and awful that it led to his poor health in later years which is a real shame.
To be part of such an iconic film as the Italian Job is something his family should be proud of, along with the rest of his many, many acting credits.

I'd be interested to see Making Out again. It's never been repeated.

He was excellent in The Placer. "Surveiilance? That's a real cozzer's word that is". He says to Regan when they suspect him. I hadn't realised he was in The Italian Job. My first memory of him is in Crossroads which was always on when I was young.

Very recognisable and very convincing in his roles, especially in The Placer.
RIP.

Sad news....just came across him in the first ep of Prime Suspect, where he makes a convincing appearance getting a heart attack.
And who would forget him as that hostile inspector in the profs ep Take Away.....

He was very good in Prime Suspect, a short but memorable appearance as Tennison's predecessor - very much a hard living copper of the old school. Also a had good supporting role as a randy factory manager in Nice Work.

Who's Wife Is It Anyway. It's actually a good Part and shows he can do comedy well.

Initially, you think is playing one of those roles again, until his confrontation with Terry...

I'd forgotten him playing Frank Skinner's psycho dad in My Blue Heaven. He was really good in that. Funny and intimidating at the same time.
