Presenters like him become etched in the subconscious. As such, you don't notice when they leave or retire. In Iain's case, this was as long ago as 1998.
A good, maybe slightly quirky presenter, who was also a dedicated professional. We perhaps don't see his like now.

Always seemed chipper in his delivery. Him and Fish were always the best. Not too sure about the modern weather girls, nice eye candy but not much else.

He was always only paid at Met Office rates. Despite being on the BBC he never received the same rates equivalent to a performer/presenter.
