Very sad news. I always liked The Inspirals. Generations and 8itches Brew are my favourite tracks.

Sad news indeed. The Inspiral Carpets were a superb 90's band. I saw them live in 1991.

Agree with the above, a great under rate band, from the 'Baggy' era and were particular good live.
44 really is no age.

Yes, I was surprised to find he was very young when they started.
He happened to be featured in the BBC4 programme this Friday about music fandom (1986-96). They gave Craig a memorial credit at the end.
RIP Craig Gill.

There's a campaign to get Saturn 5 by the Inspiral Carpets to Xmas number 1 so if anyone fancies helping and downloading a copy.

Very sad news. Saturn 5 is an awesome track. My other favourites are 'Dragging Me Down' and 'I Want You' featuring Mark E Smith.

Yes, 'Saturn 5' was probably my favourite single of all of theirs. Though it came later than 'baggy', in the midst of grunge, which is probably why it is overlooked.
Ironically if it had been released a year or so later it would have been Britpop, and it could have been a major hit.

I was reading a piece about Tom Hingley in this month's Mojo and it says there that Craig Gill committed suicide. How sad.
