Great commentator. You had Sid Waddell/Tony Green on BBC and Dave on ITV. Very intelligent commentator and witty as well.
He will be sadly missed in the world of darts.

That's a shame, harks back to the days when Darts was essential TV viewing, even my Mum watched it.

I will remember Dave Lanning best as the voice of speedway when I was growing up. As a result any speedway commentary that isn't in a Dorset accent doesn't sound quite right to me now! He also had a stint as promoter of West Ham speedway (now a housing estate obviously) in the mid 60s.

Lovely tribute to Dave on Sky Sports at the beginning of the Darts today. It was voiced by Jeff Stelling and really brought home what a top bloke Dave was.
