Very competent early 60's pop star.
'Take Good Care of My Baby' and 'The Night Has a Thousand Eyes' were two real gems of his.
RIP Bobby.

Agreed mias - timeless tunes! My favourite will always be 'Rubber Ball' ... love the cool way he speeds up the way he sings this at the end to squash it in.
Staple diet of music this in the car as I was growing up sitting in the back of my dad's car...
Rubber Ball Bobby Vee
Rubber ball, I come bouncin' back to you Rubber ball, I come bouncin' back to you Ah-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
I'm like a rubber ball Baby that's all that I am to you (bouncy, bouncy) (bouncy, bouncy) Just a rubber ball 'cause you think you can be true to two (bouncy, bouncy) (bouncy, bouncy) You bounce my heart around (You don't even put her down) And like a rubber ball, I come bouncin' back to you Rubber ball, I come bouncin' back to you
If you stretch my love till it's thin enough to tear I'll just stretch my arms to reach you anywhere And like a rubber ball, I'll come bouncin' back to you Rubber ball, I'll come bouncin' back to you
You bounce my heart around (You don't even put her down) And like a rubber ball, I come bouncin' back to you Rubber ball, I come bouncin' back to you Ah-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh (Bouncy, bouncy) (bouncy, bouncy) (Bouncy, bouncy) (bouncy, bouncy) Eee-eee-eee
I'm like a rubber band When on my shoulder you do tap (bouncy, bouncy) (bouncy, bouncy) Just a rubber band Because my heartstrings, they just snap (bouncy, bouncy) (bouncy, bouncy) You go and squeeze me till I'm all aflame (She calls you by some other guy's name) But like a rubber ball, I come bouncin' back to you Rubber ball, I come bouncin' back to you Rubber ball, I'll come bouncin' back to you
Rubber ball, I'll come bouncin' back to you Rubber ball, I'll come bouncin' back to you

Been on holiday this week and been listening to a 'Gold' station which played Rubber Ball and 'Thousand Eyes' quite a bit. I've got a strong memory of ITV (or Granada at least) running a film he was in, which I think must've been Just For Fun, after Fireball XL5 and The Champions in the school summer holidays in about 1983.
RIP.

I had to admit to not knowing who this was until I heard the songs mentioned on the radio, Thousand Eyes is a real gem IMO.
RIP

He was 73, so indeed was very young when he had his hits.
There was quite a few of them (1961-63) and Tony Blackburn listed 'Run To Him' as one of his favourite songs in his auto biography.
Tony said that it was "impossible not to like The Beatles", but that Bobby did a better live show when he saw them both in 1963.
I suspect it was the emergence of the Fab Four that limited further success for Bobby.
