Can anyone on here help me to find a name or a link to a tv drama/film that was at least partly based on the Knightsbridge Spaghetti House Robbery/Siege?
I'm not thinking of the Italian comedy, "Spaghetti House".
The version I saw was shown late one night in the early 90s on terrestrial tv. It was dark and gritty and for me, really captured the zeitgeist of its era.
I can't remember that much about it and certainly have no idea who produced, directed or acted in it.
I can recall one scene where there was a blues party that the old bill raided, causing a pregnant mum to miscarry. It was acts of oppression such as that, which caused one of the main characters to move towards extremism.
I don't think it was especially factually accurate, but definitely ended up with a siege in an Italian restaurant following a botched robbery and my hazy memory thinks they kept it as the Spaghetti House branch in Knightsbridge.
I'm sorry it's all so vague, but I was drunk when I watched it 25 odd years ago.
"A Hole in Babylon" was a 'Play for Today' and there is a 'Play for Today' thread on here too - which might hold some particular significance for you (I should know) as it also contains another production that goes by the name of 'Z for Zachariah' from 1984 - I sure you have many happy memories sitting through this, watching 'Mr Loomis':
