I thought this was a great series the first time around with Robin Ellis and Angharad Rees. I remember watching it 40 years ago spotting places near where I lived eg Porthcurno, etc.
The 1996 HTV production was very poor.
I really like the new version with Aidan Turner. I didn't think the original could even be equalled but I seriously rate the new version more than the classic 70's effort.
They were filming down by my Mum's drum at Porthcurno last week and Dad came across a shooting script left behind in a field by some careless crew member. It has everyone's mobile phone number, where the stars are staying, what time the kids have to be off set, the names of the horse/mule suppliers, etc. Fascinating stuff.
So, if anyone wants the mobile phone number of any of the Poldark crew.
It says on the script that if anyone's mobile goes off during filming then they will have to pay £5! All proceeds to go to a charity when filming is over. £5? Should be £50!

Finally managed to get hold of a 7 disc set of the 1975-77 series which is just about Uncut from Australia! The UK Box Set is cut to ribbons and the only countries that are issuing mostly uncut versions in episodic form is Australia, Holland and Spain. There are roughly 108 minutes cut from the UK set which is a total disgrace.
What's s total disgrace is that Poldark ( new series) is out on bluRay in America but only standard format in the UK. I only ever watched the new series in HD and I don't want to watch it in anything less.. Why should America get it in HD and not us. They have Grantchester in BluRay too. Not us Brits though. And no I can't afford a multi region Blu Ray player.
